ABOUT AM ENOUGH SOCIETY, CANADA

AmEnough Society is a registered Canadian charity based in British Columbia dedicated to improving the mental health and well-being of newcomers, migrants, and refugees.

We believe that every individual—regardless of where they come from—deserves to feel seen, supported, and empowered to thrive in their new home.

Through culturally appropriate programs, advocacy, and community engagement, AmEnough Society helps individuals and families overcome barriers to mental wellness, belonging, and stability.

We understand that starting over in a new country can be overwhelming. From adjusting to new systems to dealing with the emotional impact of migration, our goal is to ensure no one walks that journey alone.

Rooted in compassion. Driven by impact.

Where Compassion Meets Cultural Understanding

AmEnough Society was born in the aftermath of the COVID-19 pandemic, late in 2020, when our founder, Anna Akinmolayan, a newcomer to Canada, began to notice deep-rooted systemic gaps in the way migrants and refugees received mental health support. She observed a lack of cultural sensitivity, understanding, and awareness in existing care systems — leaving many individuals feeling unseen, unheard, and misunderstood.
Instead of waiting for change, Anna chose to be the change. Guided by her own lived experiences as a migrant and her professional background in mental health and nursing, she created AmEnough Society to ensure that cultural safety and inclusivity are at the heart of every conversation, service, and support offered.
Though founded in 2020, AmEnough Society was officially incorporated as a non-profit organization in 2023 and, within months, was recognized by the Canada Revenue Agency (CRA) as a registered charity.
Our story is deeply personal — driven by lived experience, compassion, and the belief that mental health care must reflect the cultural realities of the people it serves.
AmEnough Society also actively champions anti-racism and equity through its community engagement work, ensuring that systemic barriers are acknowledged and dismantled, one initiative at a time.

To restore dignity, nurture resilience, and create inclusive support systems for those often overlooked.

To support the mental health, wellness, and integration of newcomers, migrants, and refugees through culturally appropriate programs, anti-racism advocacy, and inclusive community initiatives that foster belonging, empowerment, and healing.

We aim to destigmatize mental health while promoting cultural awareness, equity, and accessibility in every service we provide.

A Canada where every person, regardless of background, status, or identity, has the opportunity to heal, grow, and thrive.

We envision a world where no one is left behind and where belonging, safety, and mental wellness are a right—not a privilege.

International Student, Kenya

As an international student, being away from home can be hard. The Village Square Family BBQ made me feel connected to back home again. The cultural drumming and friendly atmosphere reminded me of home and my family. I also made new friends here today.”

The Let Your Art (Heart) Out event gave me the courage to share my poetry for the first time. It was healing to see my story celebrated and crafted and framed

Senior & Volunteer, Retired

I joined one of the seniors’ mental wellness sessions, and I felt so connected with my peers for the first time in years. The team’s compassion and understanding made a real difference in my emotional wellbeing. Serving with Am Enough Society has been life-changing. It's not just about helping others but it helps me keep moving.

It’s refreshing to find an organization that understands both my struggles as a newcomer and my cultural identity. The counselling sessions helped me find balance again. Thank you, Anna.
