A culturally appropriate food bank with a mental health check-in
For those who are new here—welcome 🤍
The Nourish & Flourish Initiative is one of the three core programs run by AmEnough Society, intentionally created to combat the systemic barriers around food security faced by newcomers, migrants, and refugee families.
Many of the people we serve are excluded from traditional food systems due to income insecurity, immigration status, cultural inappropriateness of food options, stigma, and lack of access to community-based support. Nourish & Flourish was designed to respond to these gaps.
This is not just a food bank. It is a community-centred space where culturally familiar food is paired with a gentle mental health check-in, connection, and belonging. We recognise that food insecurity and emotional wellbeing are deeply intertwined, especially for those navigating migration, resettlement, and systemic barriers.
Due to the lack of dedicated grants for this program, 𝙉𝙤𝙪𝙧𝙞𝙨𝙝 & 𝙁𝙡𝙤𝙪𝙧𝙞𝙨𝙝 𝙧𝙪𝙣𝙨 𝙚𝙫𝙚𝙧𝙮 𝙤𝙩𝙝𝙚𝙧 𝙢𝙤𝙣𝙩𝙝. 𝙏𝙤 𝙗𝙧𝙞𝙙𝙜𝙚 𝙩𝙝𝙚 𝙜𝙖𝙥, 𝙬𝙚 𝙣𝙤𝙬 𝙝𝙤𝙨𝙩 𝙖 𝙬𝙚𝙚𝙠𝙡𝙮 𝙁𝙤𝙤𝙙 𝘽𝙖𝙣𝙠 𝘿𝙧𝙤𝙥-𝙄𝙣 𝙚𝙫𝙚𝙧𝙮 𝙏𝙝𝙪𝙧𝙨𝙙𝙖𝙮 𝙛𝙧𝙤𝙢 1𝙥𝙢–2𝙥𝙢, ensuring continued access to food support while we work to sustain and grow this signature initiative 🌱
Through strategic partnerships, strengthened alliances, and food-rescue initiatives, we remain committed to keeping this work going despite the challenges 🤝
If this program speaks to you, there are many ways to support:
💛 Donate financially via www.AmEnoughCanada.org (tax receipts provided)
🥫 Donate culturally appropriate food items
🤝 Partner with us through food rescue, sponsorship, or community collaboration @becomingchurch.ca

To maintain dignity and maintain confidentiality, this is video was captured at the end of the event.......
To our incredible community partners—thank you for being consistent, reliable, and deeply committed to ensuring our only non-funded programs continue to thrive against all odds. Because of you, our food security initiatives have not only expanded, but continue to grow as demand increases 🌱🤝
Last month, we served over 300 families during our Christmas Food Bank Edition, our largest one yet 🎄🥫✨
I’ll be honest… as someone who experiences situational anxiety, that day almost gave me a panic attack 😅 The crowd was overwhelming, not just for me, but for our volunteers too.
A huge thank you to Daniel @becomingchurch.ca, Greg @blanket_bc_society, and our amazing volunteers for stepping in, helping control the crowd, and quite literally saving the day 🙏🏾I almost ran away from my own event 😄 (true story!)
Jokes aside, this arm of our work brings me the deepest joy:
Seeing families supported with dignity 💕
Watching children play together across cultures 🧸🌍
Newcomers exchanging numbers and building community 📱🤍
Friends bringing their children to volunteer and teaching them kindness ❤️
Those who always show up when I fundraise or ask for donations every single time 🙌🏾
And let’s not forget our clothing bank last month was also one of our biggest yet, with phenomenal feedback on winter jackets and clothing received 👗🧥✨ Thanks to Jessa who sponsored our Gift of Hope matching our children with community sponsors who made their Christmas wishes come true ✨️🎊
From the bottom of my heart, thank you for believing in this work and walking alongside us. This is what community looks like. This is what impact feels like 💫

🌿 𝗙𝗼𝗼𝗱𝗯𝗮𝗻𝗸 𝗗𝗿𝗼𝗽-𝗜𝗻 𝗥𝗲𝗺𝗶𝗻𝗱𝗲𝗿 🌿
Behind the scenes, our Founder has been working tirelessly to build 𝘀𝘁𝗿𝗼𝗻𝗴𝗲𝗿 𝗽𝗮𝗿𝘁𝗻𝗲𝗿𝘀𝗵𝗶𝗽𝘀 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗳𝗼𝗼𝗱-𝗿𝗲𝘀𝗰𝘂𝗲 𝘀𝘁𝗿𝗮𝘁𝗲𝗴𝗶𝗲𝘀 🤝💚. Thanks to new collaborations with local organisations and neighbourhood stores, we’re now able to rescue and redistribute more food back into the community.
While we won’t be posting weekly, we want you to know that our foodbank drop-in will continue every Thursday (until further notice) — helping to bridge the gap between our bi-monthly culturally appropriate foodbank & mental health check-ins.

Theme: Community as a Superpower
Community is not just where we gather; it is how we regulate, remember, connect and heal.
This Black History Month, AmEnough Society invites you into a safe, culturally affirming space where creative expression, rhythm, and story come together to honour our migration journeys and their impact on mental wellbeing.
Through expressive art, guided reflection, and rhythm, we will explore:
✨ Stories of migration, identity, resilience, and belonging
✨ How our journeys shape emotional and mental wellbeing
✨ The protective power of community support
🎯 The aim of this event is to:
Use creative and expressive arts to open conversations about mental health
Provide a safe, non-judgemental space for sharing and reflection
Reduce stigma around mental health within diverse communities
Strengthen connection through art, rhythm, and shared presence
The space will be gently supported by an Expressive Art Therapist ensuring emotional safety throughout the we wrap up with a drumming circle. 🌀 Why a Drum Circle? Across many cultures, drumming is a communal language — it helps regulate the body, ground emotions, and reconnect us to one another. In this space, the drum circle is a shared experience of connection, reminding us that healing happens in community, not in isolation.
No artistic or musical experience is needed.

💛 Am Enough Society 💛
Supporting the mental health and well-being of migrants, refugees, and newcomers
As we begin a new year, we’re reminding our community of who we are and what we do.
At Am Enough Society, we provide culturally inclusive mental health support, community connection, and access to essential resources for individuals and families navigating settlement and life transitions.
✨ What we do:

🌟 We believe support goes beyond services it restores hope, belonging, and confidence. Everyone deserves to feel seen, supported, and reminded that they are enough.

✨ 𝗛𝗮𝗽𝗽𝘆 𝗡𝗲𝘄 𝗬𝗲𝗮𝗿 𝗳𝗿𝗼𝗺 𝗔𝗺𝗘𝗻𝗼𝘂𝗴𝗵 𝗦𝗼𝗰𝗶𝗲𝘁𝘆✨
As we step into this new year, we do so with gratitude, hope, and deep respect for community. In many of our cultures, we say “may this year meet us well” with good health, shared strength, and open hands for one another.
Thanks to the trust of our funders and the growth of new partnerships and collaborations, we are entering this year with an expanded capacity to serve a wider community, deepen our impact, and strengthen our mental health and food security programmes.
Following community consultation and the active involvement of seniors in our programme and strategic planning, our Directors have intentionally agreed to place a stronger focus on our Seniors Programme this year. This includes dedicating support to food hamper deliveries and gentle mental health check-ins directly in seniors’ homes, recognising the importance of dignity, connection, and wellbeing in later life.
This new year is about building more, reaching further, and caring deeper together. We remain committed to putting community first, always, and to ensuring support meets people where they are.
To everyone who has supported, donated, volunteered, partnered, and believed in this work ..thank you! The journey continues, and the work ahead is hopeful.
Wishing you and your loved ones a year of peace, wellness, provision, and shared joy. 💛
